Pattaya Chonburi
Pattaya
(Thai: พัทยา) is a city in Thailand, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, about 165 km southeast of Bangkok in the province of Chon Buri. Pattaya can be reached by a comfortable 2 hour drive from Bangkok. For centuries, Pattaya was a small fishing village. It was discovered in the 1960’s by soldiers seeking some r & r after fighting in Vietnam. It soon became a popular beach resort which now attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Pattaya is a place where fun, excitement, and adventure come together in a tropical hot-spot with more than 30,000 hotel rooms at its numerous resorts. The town is known as Asia’s premier beach resort, and caters with equal appeal to families, couples and single visitors. Tourists visit Pattaya for many reasons including the luxurious hotels, beautiful beaches, friendly people, excellent shopping, very reasonable prices and a wide variety of tourist attractions. Pattaya can be brash, bold and beautiful and offers everything an international beach resort can. As for food, Pattaya offers top cuisine from all over the world in its eateries. There are a vast array of dining experiences that won’t max out your credit card.
Accomodation
Accommodation is bountiful in Pattaya and there is something to suit every budget. The really great thing about Pattaya is the fact that most of the hotels are still very reasonably priced as they don’t seem to have become greedy with all the tourism which is refreshing. Because Pattaya isn’t huge, where you stay does not really affect your ability to get around easily, also the fact that there is a fantastic network of “baht buses” that cover the whole of the town (and beyond) for a very nominal charge and all day and night.. There are a good selection of hotels on Jomtien beach and also Pattaya beach road which indicates that services are numerous there. We have our favorites too of course as with everywhere in Thailand. When in Pattaya we do love the new Dusit D2 on Pattaya 2nd road. It’s modern and stylish and the service is unsurpassed in our humble opinion. Another firm favorite of ours is the Rabbit Resort on Dongtan Beach Jomtien. As far as resorts go here The Rabbit has to be the best value in Pattaya. Always great service and the resort itself is just fantastic. Read what other people have to say about The Rabbit Resort HERE. The Amari Orchid is another great place to stay on Pattaya beach road north. Amari are a great chain and are very consistent with quality and service with the Orchid being no exception. You can see what other people think HERE. There are of course many many other hotels in Pattaya from which to choose all of which you can find HERE.
