Getting Around Bangkok
Bangkok’s traffic can be notoriously bad, and it can be easy to get caught up in traffic at any time of the day which can waste your valuable holiday time. But now, with excellent public transport systems, Bangkok is much easier to get around than you might at first think. Most of the transport types listed below contain links to the particular website so feel free to explore them more.
The Skytrain
(BTS) and underground rail system (MRT) connect the shopping, business and entertainment areas of Bangkok. River taxis and boats
can be used to explore many attractions that are close to the river. Taxis

Bangkok Taxi
are cheap and appear everywhere at just about any time. Tuk-tuks

The Famous Bangkok Tuk Tuk
, once a huge thing in Bangkok, are disappearing slowly in favour of much more comfortable transport, but you should ride in one at least once while you are in town.
Buses are slow, old and smelly, but are a great way to travel alongside locals and get a proper feel for the city. Another way to get around are the motorcycle taxis. They’re fast and efficient, but can also be quite scary so are not for everyone.
There are known tourist scams that involve some unscrupulous taxi and tuk tuk drivers who may approach you with tales of super cheap tailors, cheap restaurants and especially the jewellery shop scams are quite commonplace. Being better informed means that you’ll know what to expect and look out for and will be able to plan excursions better and safer.
